APA 8-Ball Doubles Championship

Where:
Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas
When:
August 15-17, 2008
Finals:
August 17 - *8:00 pm

  • Alternate shot
  • One coach per team, per game will be allowed
  • Any combination of male/female teams
  • Modified Single Elimination
  • Maximum field is 256 entries (based on number of entries)
  • Preregistration is required
  • No entries or changes to rosters will be allowed at the event in Las Vegas
  • Must have at least 20 8-Ball scores
  • Must be on an active Summer Session APA roster in the 8-Ball format
  • Any player whose skill level changes must notify the APA or make sure the change is noted on the certification statement. Any player entering with a false skill level will be disqualified.
  • Players may only participate on one team
  • 100% payback of entry fees to the top 30% of the field
  • Games must win chart will be used
  • S/L limit 10

  • Players cannot be APA 8-Ball Classic or APA 9-Ball Shootout participants
  • Must be on an active Spring Session APA roster in the 8-Ball format
  • Any player whose skill level changes must notify the APA or make sure the change is noted on the certification statement. Any player entering with a false skill level will be disqualified.
  • Players may only participate on one team
  • 100% payback of entry fees to the top 25% of the field

APA Masters Championship

August 20 - *8:00 pm

  • Maximum of 4 players allowed on roster
  • Teams may choose any 3 of the 4 team members to participate in each match
  • Players may only participate on one team
  • All players must be from the same League area
  • U.S. Amateur rules and format apply
  • Any combination of male/female teams
  • Modified Single Elimination
  • No Skill Level limit
  • Race to 7 (8 games of 9-Ball and 5 games of 8-Ball)
  • Players will earn one point for each game won. A team can earn a maximum of 21 points per match.
  • Players will lag; winner of the lag chooses game (8-Ball or 9-Ball) or break. Once the format has been chosen, the entire set of that format must be completed before moving to the next format.
  • No coaching
  • The use of jump cues is allowed
  • Maximum field is 128 entries (based on number of entries)
  • Preregistration is required
  • No entries or changes to rosters will be allowed at the event in Las Vegas
  • Must have at least 10 8-Ball or 10 9-Ball scores (10 scores cannot be a combination of both)
  • Must be on an active Summer Session APA roster
  • 100% payback of entry fees to the top 25%

The APA also conducts the U.S. Amateur Championship, the pool world's most prestigious amateur tournament, which is the only competition open to APA members and nonmembers alike. The tournament began in 1994 and has grown more than 35 percent during the past year, as players across North America battle for one of the 128 spots in the tournament.
